2007-08-28: Not much to report...

Hehe. I just got notified of a paid service that lets you spoof caller ID. They claim it's 100% legal, and I guess I can't really point to a law that would outlaw such behaviour unless you were using it for something that was already illegal anyway.

So in the constant battle to get this place straightened up, I started going through some of my books to see what I couldn't live without. Finding the old dusty copy, covered in filth and looking sad, I just thought I'd tell anyone who might be reading this about the book Advanced C by Herb Schmidt. Published around 1988, this book taught me things like linked lists, queues, sorting and parsing in a way that helped me grasp each thing with ease. If you know the basics of C and want to move on to something useful and don't understand these concepts, this book is worth the 50c it'll cost you on amazon. Seriously.

I played SOCOM 3 a bit the other night, though I haven't found an ethernet cable that'll let me play online for any length of time without a disconnect. I played MapleStory a little while with my wife as well - but I really don't feel like playing that game much anymore. I think the 6 months I spent utterly addicted to it, to the point where in-game achievements feel better than real-life achievements (!) burned me out on it big time. I don't think I've ever played a game that wrestled away my self control as badly as that game did, and we played Quake for over 50 hours straight when it first came out.

The carnival's finally showed up for the Montpelier Jamboree (warning: link is image heavy, apparently the jamboree committee's never heard of OCR or a fast typist). It was pretty fun last year, but we didn't have much money to piss away on rides or anything - maybe this year we can have some money-wasting fun. I'll take a few more pictures this year, and hopefully at least some will turn out okay.
